Maybe, after towards the end of the training you will be the one training him.

Mountain Girl, you did just fine. I don't know if you've read about my experiences with the crazy trainer that I dubbed the "Nutty Professor", but in the end I found out it was all a test to see how I would react to pressure when trying to manipulate that gentle giant that we call an eighteen wheeler through traffic, horrendous weather, and what ever else might get thrown in our way. The main thing is to remain calm, even when it would be so satisfying to just blow up in their face because they are being rude, unhelpful, and downright mean and nasty. A driver has to be able to control him/herself in all types of stressful situations and sometimes part of our training is to be put with a total jerk just to see how we handle the added pressure. It all paid off for me, as I'm sure it will for you also. Just remember if you find yourself in a similar situation again that it is only temporary, and you are tougher than that clown who is over there hoping he can bust up your defenses and tell the bosses that you don't have what it takes to do this stuff. It sounds to me that you proved who was the class act in that tractor, and we're all real proud of you for conducting yourself the way you did, even if you did have secret fantasies of knocking his teeth down into his truck driver gut.

Hang in there, with each new day you are getting closer to your goal!

Sounds like you managed through the day in the best way you could and will be just fine, MG. I like to call days like that--particularly in a training environment--"cooperate to graduate". That is, I keep a stiff upper lip, a good attitude, and just get through it knowing that it is only temporary. Sounds like that's what you did as well, so kudos!

That`s funny stuff Mountain Girl! You are definitely not alone with that experience. I would say either this dude is an excellent trainer, or a tool. Remember? You will be tested all through your training. Great job on how you handled it too!

Yeah, I'm not 100% certain he and his girlfriend were fighting on text but it was a highly educated guess. He's tall, 6'4" and he was so crunched over and absorbed in that screen, it just seemed that way. But I agree: don't answer the bimbo's messages. You know how, when someone is being put down by one person, they end up taking it out on another, because they feel so insecure, they have to pick a fight with the "next guy?" That's how it felt like it was going.

I wanted to stop and turn to him and say, "Dude. You and I are not married. So stop talking down to me like I'm the spouse you're ****ed off at."

Anyway. Doesn't matter because I'm watching how others are reacting to him: co-workers, bosses, shippers and receivers, etc. and they don't seem to like him either.

Plus! Today was great. I'll update on my next post in a few mins!

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.
