Robin, sorry about the interruption to your productivity this week, but man I wish I could get that message liquefied and in a bottle and then make some of the new folks that come in here wanting to buy or lease a truck swallow a great big dose. It seems like such a bed of roses to folks, and they think it is the only way for them to make a decent living at this stuff. A really good truck driver can make a good living as a company driver, but it takes an amazing one to be an owner operator in today's climate, and then they better be extra lucky too, and then they need to know how to get out while it's going good also, because something will happen to shatter their hopes, and drain there escrow accounts.
Okay, I'm getting down off my soapbox before I start sounding like I'm preaching.
An owner-operator is a driver who either owns or leases the truck they are driving. A self-employed driver.
