Well it's actually good that they b rought it to your attention because it would suck to go for training and be turned out due to poor eyesight. I hope all turns out great for you.
I was actually quite happy with my DOT physical... the Doc gave me a 2 year pass on it, and i was thinking i might fail due to blood pressure but everything work out great.
Also i passed all parts of my CDL with 90% or better, i threw on tanker just because i had gone though it on the high road and got that tacked on to it. I will study up the double and trips i guess and study hazmat to add to it at later times. Hell i might even do passenger and get all 7 tacked on to it just for ****s and giggles.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Here in Texas, I took the Class A Driver Licence test and passed it. However, the clerk from the Texas Department of Public Safety urged me that I should do an eye exam and get glasses before I start my CDL Permit Tests and the CDL Skills Test (Road Test/Backing/Pre-Trip).
My vision was good enough for the Class A Permit/Licence, but would not be enough for the CDL Tests. I did what she said and got my eye exam and I will get my glasses next week.
I got the Class A Permit, but I need the eyes fixed before the actual CDL Testing. This is for Texas. Companies might have their own policies elsewhere.
