If I didn't care to have a place of residence then I would get a po box or something like that in a state like tx. Or nv. Where there is no state income tax. Just food for thought ;)
And 2 answer your question I personally have 2 mortgages on 2 homes.
I have 1 home, but 0 mortgage, because I was able to pay off my home recently. The same with the vehicles. I just need to pay the annual Property Tax.
If you haven't started trucking yet, I'd leave it for a month or two till you're settled in before you up sticks and move out, but it's a great savings vehicle to live in the truck and use a motel or family on your down time.
I just vacated my apartment. I'm going to school in 10 days. I'll spend home time with family. I don't plan to get another place till I figure out where I really want to settle.
Good stuff, thanks.

That's good thinking.
I think the idea of giving up the apartment and spending home time with family makes sense instead of shelling out $400 for not being there. If you could, maybe you could find somewhere you could negotiate with the landlord for lower payments due to your absence.

Is there any point in having an apartement in your home town? Because I would be getting ripped off paying something like 400 if I'm never there. I think the best thing to do is invest in a house or trailer.
