MG,
I didn't know you were a Marine officer?
I wonder if your boys at Con-Way knew that?

You give me more credit than I think I deserve. But here's the thing: I'm NOT one of those types who wants to beat the guys or even compete with them in such a way, you know? I just wanna' be the best Iiii can be 'cause it's not about whether or not I'm better than they are. For me, I just want to be exceptional because that's what I want to be and never for the purpose of out-doing anyone or showing anyone up. (However, I reserve the right to be highly competitive in a formal, competitive setting) But I'm more about wanting to be part of an elite team or group, if that makes sense...
On the other hand, I am very proud to be part of a new generation of drivers, as a whole, both in the female category and in the vision of what people like guyjax and Old School demonstrate themselves to be: true professionals. I do intend to lead the way with the females in such a way as to break ground and let the community know that a female driver can be both womanly, strong, professional, and oh, by the way, feminine all in one. And we don't have to be mean or gruff. Just tell me what you want done, give me the assignment, and I'll come back asking, "Ok, now what else do you need me to do?" There's no need to compromise the things that are uniquely female in order to hang with this crowd. And there's no reason for the men to feel threatened, in my view. I just want to be on the same team as they and do the same, excellent job as they and I have no intention of encroaching on what they may have perceived as their territory all this time. I just happen to like some of the same things that they do, i.e. 5 weeks ago, I got my first experience driving a forklift. I thought: no wonder the guys don't want the females driving these things. They're so much fun and they just don't wanna' share.
I do expect to be treated with respect - the same way I treat others, no matter what their origin, creed, or whatever. I think that's fair. In the future, I will be demanding a little more respect than I've been getting, though. In the future, I won't be allowing anyone to "break me down." I'll be holding my ground a bit harder than I have recently. I can still do this without becoming synical ...scynical, scynic synicle ... ... how the H**L do you spell that word? Sinical sinycal synicol sinycol
Cynical!
