Well the initial plan was the Home Time 14 / 7 fleet. However the Nashville drop yard is behind schedule. So, it appears that I will be OTR for the short term.
...And it starts...
Indeed, it starts !
I received my first paycheck today from Roehl !! ... That is an awesome feeling.
As for the Drop Yard delay, I have no problem seeing the country for my first year or so... I have always wanted to do it. Now I'm being paid to do it !! :)
Who knows where I will end up. It seems like there are a thousand driver jobs out there. All I know is, I am happy with where I am now. Roehl appears to be a great outfit. I may be here for my whole driving career. Twenty years is the plan. Then it's on the front porch on the springy chairs with my lovely wife watching the horses run. :)
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Well , I'm sitting in the top bunk of the sleeper birth finally enjoying a bit of off-duty time on the road. It was non stop, until now, when my trainer picked me up at the Roehl Ellenwood terminal. The first load was to Jacksonville, FL for an early morning Friday delivery. Now we are somewhere in SC on the way to Ohio for a Sunday Morning delivery. Then a relay swap at a drop yard and a run to Chicago for a Monday morning delivery. Wow !! Welcome to trucking !!
I Need more work on shifting, but I am fine with my driving and backing.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Good luck if you are coming through Cincinnati as the road construction on I-75 makes for very narrow lanes. Glad to hear you are doing well. I am going to Appleton Sunday to go through Phase I as I just got the backing down the day of testing, and we all agreed extra time before going out with a trainer would be beneficial. I asked the recruiter why didn't they send me to phase I in GA because at least it wouldn't be freezing down there! Good luck, and I can't wait to hear how things progress!!!

This has been a fantastic thread AJ. Look forward to hearing about your time on the road. Are you going to try and give Wine Taster's super thread a run for it's money?
All the best!

Narrow roads? No problem, just hit the truck thinning switch.
