Great hearing from you again AJ! Sounds like you're getting into a groove brother.

I'm reporting that things are starting to slow way down. My shifting is becoming second nature and I'm even starting to float a few gears. I can handle most backing situations myself now, but I'm certainly never afraid of asking for an extra set of eyes, if it's too tight for me.

I'm shutdown in Tupelo, way ahead of schedule for a load to Memphis. I thought I would just call it here as it was designated fuel stop and I'm only 84 miles away with an 0700 appt.

I'm really beginning to appreciate this wonderful machine they put me in. This morning was pure pleasure as I ran through my pre trip and snuck out of Atlanta in the wee hours.

...might even catch the Super Bowl in the Love's TV room

Life is good..... finally

I was just down in Tupelo last week. You must be at the stop right there by the Executive Inn hotel. It's not a bad little area to be honest and the people at the truck stop were pretty nice.

I read '78' and automatically thought you were in my neck of the woods! Then I read the rest of your last few posts. Of course you meant US-HWY 78, not Interstate 78!!! smile.gif

You had my hopes up, thought we could possibly rendezvous.

Very happy to hear things are slowing down for you AJ. Feels great to finally just start enjoying the job, doesn't it? I started noticing a difference within my first 3 months. Hard to believe it's been 6 months already!

Do you ever get out East?

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

OWI:

I have been up in the NE corridor quite a few times. Every time I would see some OD doubles pass me, I would think, " I wonder if that's 6 String line haulin' " lol ... I thought of contacting you, but I was so sick back then I just couldn't muster the strength. I was just driving, eating and sleeping .... I will try again next time up !

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

Line Haul:

Linehaul drivers will normally run loads from terminal to terminal for LTL (Less than Truckload) companies.

LTL (Less Than Truckload) carriers will have Linehaul drivers and P&D drivers. The P&D drivers will deliver loads locally from the terminal and pick up loads returning them to the terminal. Linehaul drivers will then run truckloads from terminal to terminal.

Doubles:

Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated

I'm going to get a few hours in the sleeper berth before the game.... talk to you guys tonight..

Sleeper Berth:

The portion of the tractor behind the seats which acts as the "living space" for the driver. It generally contains a bed (or bunk beds), cabinets, lights, temperature control knobs, and 12 volt plugs for power.

Hey man, I know how it is. Busy, busy, busy. But, if you get up here often enough, let me know, and perhaps the stars will align. I'm off Saturdays and Sundays. Hope you enjoy the game tonight!
