I live this way now and although sometimes I like being out of the truck I prefer most times to stay in it. Past few night ive been in hotels due to a down apu and now Im itching to get back in the truck to sleep. It takes a bit of getting used to but over time this truck becomes your home.

I`m with Gator here. I stay at a hotel (they treat me like family now) when I am not in my truck. Like now, I get separation anxiety if I am out of it too long. wtf-2.gif

My truck has been in the body shop this past week (super rookie backed int it) while I was teaming on a leg of a tour and I just found out it was ready to pick up. I have that feeling I`m going to be reunited with an old friend...

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.

Hm. Basic creature comforts: a good vacuum cleaner, a clean place to shower daily, iPod and speakers, computer, little fridge, maybe a hibatchi, a place to do laundry, a lint roller, workout shoes ...

Hmmmm.

That makes me a less-than-load, linehaul girl, for now. ...Unless I could travel from 24-hour fitness center to 24-hour fitness center every day. THAT would be cool ...and bring my private jet, too.

Linehaul:

Linehaul drivers will normally run loads from terminal to terminal for LTL (Less than Truckload) companies.

LTL (Less Than Truckload) carriers will have Linehaul drivers and P&D drivers. The P&D drivers will deliver loads locally from the terminal and pick up loads returning them to the terminal. Linehaul drivers will then run truckloads from terminal to terminal.
