Seriously, so freaked out. I have social anxiety, and PTSD. I will overcome! When I finally pull the trigger it will be with a shot heard around the world . Lol. You will hear from me. Also, so funny,.... again we are thinking about similar things, I was looking at charter buses.

I was just worried about you since I hadn't seen you post in a while. I have to say that Mountain Girl's experience didn't make me very hopeful....I am going to have to go the company school route it seems and just concerned about being bounced because I will have to quit the job I have to do so. I know this doesn't seem to concern the men, but they are also not trying to enter a profession dominated by the opposite sex. Funny thing is, I have never heard a male nurse say they were harassed out of a job. I guess women are just more accepting to change! smile.gif

Yes I am kinda like a turtle I will retreat from time to time :) MG's experience was not something I wanted to see. Don't get me started. Beyond that, now I'm getting worked up about the weather, that I screwed around too long. Should have been driving already ( dammit ). I feel for you and the decision you have to make about quitting your job first, scary stuff! TTYsoon!

Hey girl. How are your kids? Wow what a weather event here! Thousand year flood they were saying. Hope your children avoided any damage and such. Let me know.shocked.png We avoided all, other than a slight leak in the roof vent.

All of them had work or school cancelled due to the flooding. They sent me pics and I was amazed! We have school and work cancelled on occasion due to snow and ice, but never water. I was glad to hear they were not trying to go out in that mess. Glad to hear you are safe also!

I won't sugar coat trucking...it is, and always has been a man dominated job area...BUT....there is a light at the end of the tunnel !!! Companies are now seeing that WOMEN make great drivers !!! They take care of the equipment, they make their appointments, they are polite to shippers and receivers,...and they don't park the truck infront of a ***** bar....a nail salon, maybe....but never a strip club !!! Its still hard to get out there, and demand the respect that is GIVEN to the men....but I have always worked with the guys...so I just bow my neck, let my green eyes snap, and let my redhaired temper flare...they cut me a wide swath...We have to be tougher, smarter, work harder, and be better...but in all of it...we can BE PROUD. I have a dear friend who broke into trucking in the early 60's...when women did not drive truck...I started in the early 70's and it was realitively unheard of....SO we have come a long way ladies !!!!! Walk like you own the parking lot, Speak like you are college educated, and NEVER LET 'EM SEE YA SWEAT.......

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

I was going to wait until Spring but I would have to get another job to work with the one I have to see me through the winter, so "I thought what the heck", I am just going to jump in with both feet. I have used up almost all of my savings trying to survive while working for my current company and a lot of people are leaving, so now seemed like a good sign...that and the fact that I interviewed for a job I was highly qualified for and didn't get it. I am glad to be going to an industry that will value my age and experience! I am rooting for you Mikki and will definitely let you know how things go! smile.gif

Hey Girlie! Yea I am trying to get everything done and still try to act interested at work....not easy to do because I have mentally checked out. I went to test for my permit today even though I haven't looked at the High Road stuff in over a month. I passed 2 of the 3 and will go back tomorrow to try the third one again. I really should have studied before going but I had the time today so decided what the heck. I know the guys all seem to walk in and ace everything, but I am mortal....oh well!!!! smile.gif E-mail me at blondie196124@yahoo.com if you want! Stay safe and don't float away!!!!
