Hello, talked to a recruited for Central and have everything set for the last of September, but i've been seeing a lot of negative posts about how they send people home after being at the school only a few days and/or send them home after training at orientation.

What i cannot seem to find are more of the reasons why they are being sent home. Don't want to sign a contract just to have them arbitrarily send me home then i own them $3000.

I have a clean record, nothing criminal at all but i did get a ticket last year for expired tags. Checked my MVR and it says no points were assessed for that. I put it on the application in the name of full disclosure so there would be no surprises down the road.

What i'm more concerned about is my employment history. For the last 6 years i've been working for temp agencies off and on and i have an employment gap of 2 years at 1 point. Does anyone think they would send someone home because of a long period of unemployment? I'm sure with the economy since 2008 they have seen quite a few people with extended periods of unemployment.

I really want to do this but i want to me sure there will be gainful employment when the school is over. Any advice would be most appreciated.

MVR:

Motor Vehicle Record

An MVR is a report of your driving history, as reported from your state Department of Motor Vehicles. Information on this report may include Drivers License information, point history, violations, convictions, and license status on your driving record.

No its central refrigerates service, also known as swift as they were bought out earlier this year by swift. Have my start date now and going to get the bus ticket later today. We'll see what happens.

Ive been studying for the CDL with help from this website, seems about the best approach. Heading out tomorrow on the greyhound, hope the recruiter is correct about the paperwork and information i need to bring with me. Gonna be very hard to get anything sent out to kansas city or Utah from my house if i'm out there.

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.

Well first day at school and hit a snag. They hand us an application and it asks for 8 reffs which I don't have. They want name, address. Phone for all of them. I complain about it and told either provide what is asked for or get sent home So....I put down the msmrs of 8 people I know and made up the rrdt of the info. Hope it doesn't come back to bite me.

The first week is a joke so far,all they do is give the answers to the cdl tests and basically help you cheat.

Sure hope the training in Utah is better than this.

Motel is OK , 4 people sent home already and only wed. School sits right next to a "head shop".

Afaik they can only charge you if you quit, not if they decide they don't want you. Time to read the fine print!

Well I want to do this and they stated I could not proceed without it so..,.. my beef was that the recruiter didn't say this info was needed. I have the printout of everything to bring and its not on it.

Central was bought out by Swift, so it's pretty much Swift. They want you to pass, that's why they give you all the answers.

Don't worry about the references. They don't have to be work references and they don't call them to see if you're a psyho or whatever you think they do with those contact info. Lol

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Oh yeah. Nobody got sent home when I was there. People got with their mentors right after orientation. A lot of them had to wait at the hotel until they got assigned theirs - my friends all got mentors before the week ended and we all upgraded around the same time.

Only one person was sent home, but that was because he requested to go home for a family emergency. After two weeks, they sent him a bus ticket (at his request) to the nearest yard to be assigned a mentor.

If they are sending people home, then they're probably short on mentors.
