Looks like they found me a truck...only thing is, it's up in Wisconsin. So I'm waiting on travel plans.

They were able to fulfill my request for a team-friendly model. A Kenworth T680. I can't wait to see it.

He was using a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia. With Qualcomm.

Oh wow! That's sweet!!

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

I hope they could at least fly you up there. Ocala, FL to Wisconsin would be a painfully long bus ride.

Dad here! Sean was flown to Eau Claire, WI, to pick up his new 2015 Kenworth T680 from the dealer. He'll pick up tomorrow, Monday, and head to the Swift terminal at Menasha, WI, for plates, documentation, etc. I repeat new 2015 KW T680. Not bad treatment for a new driver. This was in response to his request for a team truck looking towards our teaming after the first of the year.

He already had a load offered to Loveland, CO, but can't accept as his truck isn't ready. He's really looking forward to earning some $$$ for his own miles! He's got a great DM that he worked with during training.

So far, Swift has been a good choice. Makes me want to get with it, but I'm sticking to our plan for after the new year. I'm planning on permit and physical next month or early December and school in January.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

So far so good. Got into Eau Claire last night, just been chilling at the hotel and filled out my benefits info. I'm looking forward to picking up the truck tomorrow and getting my first pre-plan.
