Thank You so much ladies for that input. You both are awesome. Though I don't post or comment much here on TT, I have been lurking, and you are my top two ladies. I genuinely do look up to you two. (Seems kind of weird though, since I don't know you at all. lol) In my private life I am like one of the guys anyway, not only by physical appearance either, so I'm sure I won't be doing any flirting. I tend to keep to myself, and I'm very studious, so I'm sure I have this in the bag. The only thing that will be hard adjusting to is having to get up so early and work long hours, but it's worth it in the long run I'm sure. And I'm only 22, so I definitely have a lot to learn, and things won't be so difficult because I am so young.
Any other tips, tricks or advice you may have, please don't hesitate to PM me.
Thanks again

I will give input from a guys prospective. Let me start by saying I have had women bosses before and loved it. I have no problem at all working for women or with women. It's my personal opinion that if you can do the job and do it well, even being a rookie and what that entails, and can do the same job as me then you deserve the respect that is due to you and deserve to be looked at as equals in every way. my hats off to you ladies.
Now on the flip side of that. I lump EVERYONE into two categories. Be it male or female. Those that can do the job of driving a truck and do it safely and those that can't. I really don't look at people as female or male. Well I do but that's a whole other topic that does not need to be talked about here. After all I am a guy. :) But I instead look at the guys and gals driving the trucks as drivers. Plain and simple. Drivers. Either you are a driver or your not. Certain parts of the anatomy do not make someone a great driver. Male or female.
And for the most part it's not driving skill. That will come with time. It's how you deal with and react to different situations. If you get a bit stressed and are ready to blow up then stay at home. Road rage kills.
Besides the obvious differences between men and women you know what makes them different in handling a truck? Absolutely nothing. Not a dang thing.
So in saying all that and make the point...... Genders have little to do with driving. In the end you either can drive or you can't.
OH GUY I WISH EVERY GUY COULD BE LIKE YOU! Seriously though maybe BAM wont get it half as bad as me but ive actually been told I shouldnt be a driver because im a woman. Theres a "good ol boys" club out here that still boasts the mentality of 1930s "barefoot and pregnant" mentality. Some folks just dont respect that woman can do anything that men can do. Now Ill give anyone the benefit of the doubt on an initial glance of me. I just dont look like a trucker. But I damn well am one. I can run circles around half of these "steering wheel holders". Learning how to deal with the nay sayers is also a must. Im not gonna start dressing like a guy to get respect. Im going to demand it in pink:-)

Thanks, Bam-Bam. I'm really flattered. I'm just trying to get my income-earning world off the ground. (No worries on the flirting thing. I didn't mean to put too much emphasis on that subject) It does not pertain to you, I know. I've even witnessed situations where the women were outnumbered but occasionally, a woman would quickly turn on the charm, bat her eyes at the male instructor but then at other times expect to be treated equally. I would think, no way, lady. You can't appeal to the co-ed factor and then expect to be treated equally when you have just made the distinction between the sexes a minute before using your "feminine ways" with the the man, softened him up a bit with that smile and then flip, demanding respect. Um. No-o. You'll see some women try to pull this off, sometimes. Unreal.
Yeah, Guyjax, you're pretty cool that way. Either you can or can't drive safely. It's pretty cut-and-dry for him and I wish, Guy, there were even just a few more drivers out there like you. It would make a world of difference.
I am not a morning person by any means. Not at allllll. However, knowing you'll have to adjust soon, I would start getting myself up early, now, so your first couple of weeks training are not too much of a shock to your system. When I'm running an early-morning schedule, I even set an alarm clock (or my phone) to go off at night to remind me it's time to get to bed. If I don't, I get a second wind and stay up late (when the house is quiet and I can think without interruption) all over again because my internal clock just wants to stay up all night. If I remind myself to turn in, it's much easier.
Just a thought.

as far as i know Swift doesn't have many if any autos in their fleet, i cannot imagine them training you on an auto then giving you a stick. Also in VA you will get a restriction on your CDL if you test in an auto.
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
