Hey all my name is Jim I am starting truck school tomorrow. Spent 8 yrs in the AF driving firetrucks so I have an idea of what a pre trip inspection to include airbrakes will be like however It stops there.

I have already read the CDL manual and got tired of highlighting. I have also been preparing by taking the valuable tests of the internet to include the gen. knowledge test and airbrakes tests. I am doing very well. But anyway tomorrow will begin what I hope to be a fun and rewarding career in the trucking industry.

CDL:

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Why do I read about a lot of negativity towards truck schools? I hope I am not wrong but I don't see where it will be hard for me. I am not trying to be ****y I am just stating that I have already begun studying, so the next two weeks will be reinforcement. I am good hands on so I am more excited than nervous to get started

Hm. Well, sometimes it's hard and sometimes it's just tiring, which makes it feel tougher. It's a little bit of an emotional roller-coaster, going through it because maybe, you don't always know where you stand or whether the mistakes you made today are going to carry over to tomorrow. So, you have to pick yourself up and try again. It takes some energy, self-confidence, and support to do.

That's why we're here for one another.

And it's great ...totally awesome that you're more excited than nervous. That's the way to be! GO for it!

Lol its funny I too start tomorrow, and my bundle of nerves is making it hard to sleep so there's only one answer...time here on TT. I have no doubts both of you will do well, all the researching, previous experiences, even the secret weapon of High Road Training Program cant compare to what we have access to that few do, a positive supportive atmosphere here at TT. So while I will be thinking of you all and wishing future successes your way when I sit down to class tomorrow, I also wanted to thank Brett and everyone here for the wonderful community on top of the great site.
