Ma-an! Way to go, Josh! Melton sounds like a cool company. And driving up to the house in your purdy truck? Sounds like a dream!

Congrats!!! I'm sure your on a high right now.
Congrads, you need to change you status to from considering a career to full fledge rookie.
Congrats Man!!! I cant wait to get to that point myself. I wish you the best of luck out there and stay safe.
Just got off the trainer's truck and into my own here at Melton. I'm sure guys can tell I'm a rookie driver and I would think they'd give me the stink eye or look down on me, but the opposite has been true. The guys are really helpful, friendly, and quick to offer up advice.
I'm waiting on my first load to take me up to Tulsa to finish up the administrative part of my training. I'm pretty anxious to see what load I'll be getting lol. After Tulsa they should route me towards the house in North Carolina. Can't wait to show off this purty truck to family lol.
Nothing beats that first load.. Ah man I remember mine. That's when its all you and no trainer to help..
Congrats man. The best part will be when you show off the truck and everyone gets to see what you truly will love in..
Congrats Josh! Now the real lernin begins! (yeah I know I spelt that wrong)
A big congratulations Josh!

That is one of the beauties of the flat-bedding community. For the most part the other drivers are more than willing to help you out. It's one area of trucking that still has a little of the "old school" brotherhood mentality that believes in respecting and helping a fellow driver out.
Hang in there Josh, there's gonna be a few moments where you will wonder if you've done the right thing. You are going to be learning so much now that you are on your own. Just keep moving forward, you will get better and more comfortable with the securement and tarping as time goes by. Hope to meet you some day out there on the highway!

Dm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
