For those of you who have stated that you make your drink of choice in your truck, How do you make it? What equipment? How do you plug it in? Im sure the newbies are interested in hearing your technique.

I bought a single cup pot. Rated at about 600watts and I plug it in to my power inverter.

I wake up, plug it in, put my coffee in, water and it brews while I get dressed and is ready when I roll. I do hot tea the same way.

In honor of National Coffee Day, I want to know what's in your cup? If you are not a coffee drinker, then what is your drink of choice? Please include brand, flavor, recipe, and things of that nature. I'm sure there is a wide variety out there that will be interesting to discuss. If you make it in the truck then let us know how. Let's hear it...

The question is, perhaps, what is a driver's drink of choice for a stimulant? Personally, I drink coffee because of the test AND the effect, like I'm sure most folks do. I'm a coffee snob, and grind my own beans. I also can appreciate it black or with light / heavy cream. No flavored cream, sugar, or syrups. Probably my favorite bean would be the Kona variety - has a chocolate undertone.

Now, I will drink cheap, instant coffee if I"m in a bind, or the stuff you find in most convenience stores or truck stops. I will basically just gulp it down. It's not meant for taste but effect. Usually it needs some kind of masking agent, like creamer.

But if we're talking about just drinking a substance purely for effect, I'd prefer an energy drink to cheap coffee. I'm still experimenting with these, but Red Bull seems to get me going, to the point where I'd like to unhook my trailer and just strap it to my back, running my trailer to my next destination.dancing.gif

Some energy drinks also contain more caffeine so you don't have to drink as much, as opposed to coffee - read, less potty breaks.

In all seriousness, I don't fully depend on energy drinks or coffee to get me through my night shift driving, so I don't want to encourage any new drivers to do the same and substitute caffeine for proper sleep.

I have a regular mr. Coffee and plug it into my inverter. I usually make half a pot. That equals 2 of my cups. I get up brew it enjoy 1 cup then refill my cup and lasts me awhile. I use a thermo cup and keeps it hot for about 3 hrs. I had a 1 cup roadpro 12v pot before I got my inverter. Took forever to brew 1 cup. Much happier since I installed the inverter.

I start my day off with Folgers at least a 1/2 to 3/4 pot (it's shows on side it holds 12cups.....I think that's a lie..maybe it's 6 cups) then water. I Love green tea. And if it's cool or cold out I really like hot teas.....to many to name. Then I work on water again. Must get those 8 glasses or more down.if you drink a glass at the time you wake up,after coffee ,after lunch or during, then in between lunch and dinner and then at of right after dinner and then an hour or two before bed......is the only way I have fond , to get that 8 or more glasses down.....how about y'all ? Oh by the way that is a large glass by the way. Any body find it hard to stay hydrated ? You know your there if the pee is clear...... Just saying .

I drank water all the time before I started driving. Way more than 8 glasses a day - big mugs. I quickly realized that I had to taper down the drinking once I became a driver. There's just no time to stop every hour to go to the bathroom, let alone a place to do it. It took some getting used to, but I can actually go 4+ hours now if I need to hold it, depending on how much I drink. When I get done driving, I make up for the lack of water by drinking more while off duty.
