I also live in fl. I dont know if this helps or not as i have no real experience in this. But my friend and i who are going to school and then intend on team driving when we are done with training have gone ahead well in advanced got our twic cards and passport cards just to make us a little more marketable. Also considering that these 2 things can be a pain in the ass to obtain over the road as well as they take a little time to get. Outside of that we have also gotton the fl cdl manual and have studied our asses off. Good luck to you.

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
