Do companies like Swift, Prime, Knight, and ect. allow drivers to deliver and pick up loads in Mexico and Canada? Can someone answer this and give me some advice. I have a passport, I love to travel and do you make more money for these runs????

I know swift does heavy hauls out and in to Canada from Was and ID. Prime I think does canada too.

Not sure if there is more pay...

PJ has done more Canada than he wants to admit. I know Prime goes into Canada too.

However, I refuse to. Its more hassle and headaches than its worth. If I was you, I would aim to stay in the US just to keep things simple for you but don't let it be a deciding factor.. There's enough miles in the states.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

I don't know of any American companies that send their drivers to Mexico but many of the larger companies do have runs going to Canada. They generally do not pay any more to go to Canada than they would a run in the U.S.

I ran a dedicated account with Roehl for 6 months. I ran from the south to canada and back. I generally made 1 trip a week. I saw Prime up there that were american trucks. Schnider has their own canada division. Most the other big players had truvks too, just not sure if they were us or canada trucks. Roehl paid me an extra 50 dollars a trip. Canada officials always were nice, more than I can say for US customs. It can be a real pain drpending where you cross. Yes the rules are the same but I found they are applied differently. When I leased my truck here I told them no way was I going out of the US. Just not worth it to me. KLLM ships to both but have drops at the border. US drivers dont cross. Most companies dont send US drivers into Mexico. In Laredo there are broker companies that take them in. Thank god. I dont mean to discourage you, but remember this is a job and not a vacation. Of all the trips I did they were haul in and come straight back. Canada customs also wants to know the duration of you being there. I'd recommend going on vacation not driving a truck.
