Brett, One question regarding companies that might consider a person with less than a years exp. Wouldn't a lot of that henge on their insurance carrier and how they have set up their policies?
Yap, absolutely. Like anything you insure, the payments will depend upon the risk. So will the salary. So a company will determine what level of risk and experience they're willing to pay for when deciding who they'll hire. That can fluctuate at times also though. When things slow down they might raise their hiring criteria simply because they don't need as many new drivers at the moment. When things get busier they might lower em back down.
Then again they might just say they require more experience than they actually do simply to keep the volume of applications at a more reasonable level.
