I started out wanting to go to a company sponsored school but Maryland won't transfer temp. CDLs. Thanks Swift for bringing that up to my attention. I looked into a couple of private schools in Virginia that were cheaper than the private schools in Maryland. Neither school told me about the Maryland regulation but were eager to sign me up. Not their responsibility should have checked that myself, but thank you Swift for letting me know before I made a expensive mistake. I decided to apply at College of Southern Maryland 2 weeks before orientation. Yesterday was orientation and the class was informed that only 8 people would be attending the Oct 27 class, there were 22 people. They narrowed the class by when you applied and who had their funding in place. Nineteen people had applied before me. Most of the class had Pell grants and I thought oh well I best be looking at other schools. But only one person read the fine print. Those getting Pell grants of $5000 would get $2500 now and $2500 in Jan because the grants are based on school year not semester. The class is only 7 weeks so and it costs $3500. The reminder $1000 needed to be paid either by loan or private funding. Those who had their finances in place the fastest got into the class. I was really bummed when I didn't get a Pell grant but my husband and I were able to come up with the tuition the day before orientation so I was able write a check last night and get into the class. No the check will not bounce. The moral of the story, READ THE FINE PRINT.

Congrats, and yes always read the small print, that's where they hide the juicy stuff! Am I understanding that Swift is who your signing with? They will reimburse for schooling.good-luck.gif

I'm not signing with anyone just yet, but Swift is one of the companies I'm interested in. That's the upswing of paying for training is that I'll have more options once I get my CDL. The downside is that I had to come up with the tuition, lucky me my husband had a couple of accounts he had inherited that he was able to cash in on.
