Unfortunately he didn't get enough hours to find a good job. Do yall know of any schools or companies that offer hours? Or will a school turn him down since he already has his license?

How many hours did he get? The Co's want 160. Mountain Girl knows about this problem

I'm not sure how many but I know it was nowhere near 160 hours though.

Rest assured, no school will turn him down as long as he meets the requirements and can pay or signs a contract. He probably will be better off going to a company that has their own school and forgets the cost in exchange for a contract. With that said, I do not know of any independent schools that give you the amount of driving hours needed to just hop into a company's truck and start driving on your own; some local companies may but OTR is a different story.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Brian so he should apply for companies that offer company based training?

Don't know what to tell you without the facts and the hours will matter. Just a guess, he might have to reschool, would probably be better off going through the company.confused.gif

Oh forgot to mention that some companies have a refresher course available. I know Stevens does or did. Recruiter told me that someone after orientation will test you and determine if the refresher course will be enough to get you out or you may have to go through their school. Didn't go, so I can not say for sure that is the case.

Well, most companies have a list of schools that they view as acceptable training schools. If the school that he attended is not on their list, he will need to attend a school that is on their list or go to that company's school.

Southwest truck driver training provided 160 hour courses and there have been others joining for less time but they needed to for the ops reason above.
