Do trucking companies see the "Inquiry History Report" as part of their request? If they do I have a feeling I can kiss my dream of the open road goodbye.

DAC report only pertains to CDL holders. Once you obtain a CDL the DAC Report becomes your work history. People without CDL's do not have to worry cause they do not have a DAC report.

Now with that being said when you are getting into trucking ,by law, you will have to disclose EVERY all your work history for the past 10 years. This can include but not limited to part time and full time jobs, schooling- part or full time student, Filed income tax reports from tax time and including unemployment which should be recorded if you applied for assistance. Signed affidavits from family or employers help. Of course this depends on your age. If your young and in your early 20's then you will not have 10 years of work history. Basically you have to provide everything since you were 18 unless your over 28 years of age then you will need to report 10 years of work history.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

Know of any good sites/companies that can help a person recreate/locate their past employment history? During the past three years of freelancing and school I've lost my original resume and don't want to offer a false resume with dates that are inaccurate.<

I am sure there are companies out there that will help you do that though I can not think of any off the top of my head. Mainly its you that have to do the hard foot work here cause those type of companies can not go where you will be needing to go.

You will need to contact the IRS so you can get copies of the taxes you reported to have earned which can work as a work history to prove you were employed and by who and even have those work dates for ya.

"Freelance" smells a lot like non taxed money under the table and unless you have a paper trail to prove your work history while freelanced then not a lot that can be done there.

During the times you were a student, either full or part time, the schools will have transcripts of when you attended the schools and can be easy to track down.

Basically you have to sit down and make a list of the ways they can prove your work history for 10 years ,if your old enough, the find away of providing that paper trail.

Yup. you can get a copy of your last 3 years taxes, which would have your employers for that time, and their information. thats your best bet.....and the cheapest....

I believe the SS admin can give you a list of past employment, if you were paying SS out of your wages. They charge for it, but they do provide it.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
