Hey Russell, welcome to the site. A large majority of newbies are in their mature years. There is a large bunch of us here in our 50's. Basically if you have the will and want to be in this profession there will be a spot somewhere for you. Take a look around the site and make sure you check out all the knowledge within, Brett has done a great job here and you can't help but learn something.
The neat thing about trucking is that it is heavily in demand. If you're reasonably healthy, I don't see why you would be unable. I consider myself to be an older 37. When it comes to my driving mentor, I will happy to be paired with an "older" driver. Go for it! You've nothing to lose. :)
Hey Russel, welcome aboard I started drving at 55. They love us grey beards in this industry. Life experience, able to handle the pressures etc etc. If you're healthy enough to pass your physical there is no reason you can't do this as long as you like. Good luck and jump on in

I turn 62 in two weeks and I'm happy to hear we greybeards might be valued in this industry, because elsewhere there's a lot of age discrimination. It may be recruiter BS, but three recruiters I talked to talked about people in their 70s getting approved for training
