I just applied to Prime and Central Refrigerated as well. My preferences are Knight, Swift, Prime, Central, and as a last result if I can't make it anywhere else, CR England. I don't like what they've got going on. I may ask some family/friends to help me get a loan or something to take the private route if I can't get any of the above. This wrist issue and being able to lift 60 pounds has me a bit worried, to be honest. So I may take the private route (if I can find funds) and go through that while working up my strength and getting my range of motion back to the norm. I'm going to give the physical a shot either way, but this will be my plan of action if I can't pass it. Thanks everyone for the input and advice!

Just to let you know Swift owns Central Refrigerated. For the physical part it's just a standard DOT physical for Swift.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

I'm just not sure I wanna share a room with 3 strangers for 4 weeks!

I went to roadmasters school and commuted from my house. The people that stayed in hotels only shared a room with 1 other person there. From what I heard some of the students that went to the Swift school in Fontana only had 1 roommate. Make some calls and find out the details :)
Nope! I just called her to follow up. Found out "Unfortunately she wouldn't be able to get me in, because I have more than 1 year of unemployment in the past three years." Guess they weren't going to call me or let me know that. Maybe I need another recruiter. Guess I filled out something wrong on the app? Pulled up my resume and I definitely don't have more than a year of unemployment, and while I was unemployed, I was a student! So, we'll see. Anyways, trying to get in contact with the Swift trainer now! Gotta have a back up! Really wanted to go with Knight, but I think the recruiter may be avoiding me now.

Jason I would question this. I was out of work for over a year before I started with Knight so unless something has changed that you may still be able to go with them.
As I am sure you know if you have read many threads on here having trouble getting in touch with your recruiter is not out of the ordinary. I can't tell you how many times I had to keep calling to reach mine when I was starting. I had been accepted but was trying to wait for Knights school to open near me. Two months later with no real answer as to when it would be open I finally went to private school. For those two months I placed several calls trying to find out what was going on and it usually took more than one call each time I tried to touch base.
By no means am I trying to push you towards Knight, but if they are where you really feel like you want to be don't get discouraged.

I just completed my orientation with Swift today and waiting for a mentor to go out for 200 hours of training. When finished with that I start at.33 cpm with raises every 3 months up to one year which will put me at 36 cpmand they give you quarterly bonus which sounds like it's easy to achieve as long as your not taking a lot of home time. Platinum is an extra .03 cpm for all miles driven. So that basically bumps you up to .39 cpm after 1 year. Talked to a driver today and he reached platinum after 4 months solo driving.
Compare that to what you know about CR. Good luck Jason in whatever path you choose!
CPM:
Cents Per Mile
Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.
OOS:
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
