I'm working on getting my cdl through AIT in Denver, got a pre hire from Werner. Just trying to figure out what I'm going to actually be making my first year? How often will I get to see my family? What's it like working for Werner? What do I need to know? Thanks.
Most likely around 25000 to 30000.... For otr generally its one day off for each week off most companies want you out for three weeks out of the month and the rest not really sure never worked for them
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.

The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
A few weeks ago, Werner was looking to fill a position that was more like an extended line-haul out and back, from Denver to (I think) Oklahoma. That run had the potential of bringing the driver home approximately every 5 days or more. Hang on... I'll PM you and send you the recruiter's name and number.
