If you let one person do it then everyone is going to find out and you no longer have a delivery schedule!
Limited space on the dock. Contracts with companies on how long trucks can be in the doors or any other reason.
It's a mixed bag. Walmart has a standing rule 2 hrs before appt. except the one I delivered to last night. 1 hr max. I usually call ahead. Large companies good luck, but smaller ones I give them the option, and make it sound like its a courtousy. I even tell them its a courtousy call. More times than not they take me early. If they do I make out, if they dont I'm no worse off. I just talked a shipper into doing me a preload tomorrow morning because I cant make the appt for a live load cause of my current delivery. They even offered as long as I promised to bring them a good clean trailer with no issues. That was easy I currently have a brand new one.
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.
We have no problems with arriving early with our customer. We drive on a dedicated account.

How come customers don't allow early arrivals even if its just 30 minutes early?
