Just what I needed to hear today Daniel! I'm 56, and decided today to start my training in January for my 57th b'day. Your words of wisdom along with the rest of the Trucking Truth community are a tremendous asset. Thanks to all!
Wow Daniel this is one of the best posts on TT. You defiantly have inspired me and I'm sure many others.
Great inspirational story, Daniel! I too was glad when I found this site after I had read all the negative nonsense elsewhere on the web. It is like any other industry in that attitude makes all the difference, except it seems that in trucking a poor attitude shows up a lot more quickly.
Thanks to you personally and all the others on this site, I have accomplished a goal I wrote down for myself at the end of June - driving a flatbed by October. There have been some anxious moments, and I'm sure there are more to come, but I feel much better prepared since working through the materials here.
Thank you for sharing your story! It is very motivating. I can't believe you're only 23. You matured quickly and are raised not to have a sense of entitlement. You will go far!
Great post! I echo all sentiments that it is no less than an inspiring story, and is one very similar to mine in the sense that I am flat broke as a joke right now.
Well, all I can say is thank you! And thanks to everyone here for being what appears to be the only positive trucker community online.
PS, where can I see the bike securment video. At 42, I'm still into bmx and plan on taking my bike for exercise.

Take a look at the entire thread I made about bringing a bike on the road. Feel free to comment, video at end but goodies on all pages.
Congratulations on your present success. It sounds like you were raised right, have a great work ethic, and look for solutions to problems rather than whining and blaming others. Best wishes and prayers for continuing success.
What can I say, that hasn't been said by everyone before me.....
Thank you, Daniel! And everyone else here, as well!

What a story of inspiration Daniel!
I wished I had had your smarts and drive when I had been your age. I used to work for a manufacturing company for about 8 years, making 50-60k a year. However all the OT and seeing the same 4 walls day after day drove me to seek another job in a different state. That unfortunately crumbled and I wound up dragging myself back to my home state with the proverbial tail between my legs.
After spending several months in a depressive funk due to bills piling up and no money, I happened to look back into the idea of training to be a driver. I came across this site (and many others that almost drove me away, wont say names, you know who they are im sure) and it put a breath of positive hope in me that I COULD do this and be successful. So here I am now, studying my ass off and reading tons of posts here on TT and headed to prime at the end of the month.
Hope to one day meet some of ya on the road!
