I wont stick up for either or for the fact ive seen drivers not pay attention but ive also seen first hand motorcyclists who feel ya should be seein me so i dnt have to pay attention to squat.
and yes most times big truck vs motor bike they normally just bring a hose truck,i seen one in pa on i80 the cyclist came down the ramp abotu 120 and oops ddnt see the ass of the trlr and ran straight into it,needless to say nothing was left.
Well the early news reports say two tractor-trailers and a motorcycle. So do the math. A semi in one lane and a semi in another and a motorcycle coming from an on ramp = POTENTIAL DISASTER.

I used to ride myself and used to work as a mechanic at a Harley dealership. There was no feeling on Earth like riding, but I'm sure there's no feeling on Earth like getting blasted in a wreck, which is why I don't ride anymore.
I stay AWAY from trucks, for a few reasons
All I could think about when I saw a rig nearby was having one of those retreads coming off a tire into my face.
Brett, they don't call em "donor cycles" for nothing...But ridin' a scoot is alot like truckin',..once it gets in your blood, your an addict, like it or not. Its all about personal freedom...
According to everything I was able to find on this it is being labeled an accident as it should be.
Everyone should have learned during their teenage years when they were first studying to take their first driving test that ALL traffic coming on to an interstate on ramp yields to the traffic already on the road. Well not everyone remembered cause a guy died from not remembering this basic rule of the road.
But it seems like a lot of people do not remember this either cause I see cars AND big trucks forcing themselves into traffic everyday from an on ramp as if they expect everyone on the freeway to move for them. Which is why I ride in the number two lane so I don't have to put up with the on ramps. I guess this comes from people thinking that driving is a right. Its not. Its a privilege. You have to earn the privilege to drive. People start thinking driving is a right and then we have accidents like this one to talk about.
Since the police did not file charges against the truck drivers that means they are assigning the blame for the accident to the one person that caused it. It sucks that the guy had to pay with his life for a mistake that he made but sometimes that is what it takes to have a lesson learned and hopefully someone will learn from his mistake.

I was trying to get more info, but the websites with the info must be down, or my cell phone doesn't pick up the websites.
But, Guyjaxs, you are correct. Nothing scares me more when someone is coming from an on ramp and the passing lane has a car or truck in it as well.
Dave
Its not the info that is on the website but the lack of it. If charges were filed or going to be filed they would have said something to indicate that and they do not mention anything that might suggest they were even thinking about it. Pretty much it looks like the story and accident ,like so many others, will be buried in more current news and pushed to the back burner.
What amazes me is that if the motorcyclist knew he couldn't get in infront of the truck, he STILL had the apron to run on.....just a bad thing all around.
I tend to roll to the right side a bit and hung the white line. I do my best to get them some room. Last thing I want is to scrape a bike off my grill or trailer...

This reminds me of a time when my dad was riding his Harley on the interstate and a truck blew past him as he was coming onto an onramp and a rock the size of his fist flew up from one of the truck's tires and took out the windshield on his bike. It hit directly in front of his face; had that windshield not been there, Dad surely would've been killed.
Things like that are such a cold, sobering reality check for just how small and vulnerable you are out there on that bike...
