ARE THERE COMPANY SPONSORED SCHOOLS IN THE NORTHEAST?

Swift I know has one in Richmond, VA. I will be going to that one on November 24th. If you look at this page, Free Truck Driving Schools and Company-Sponsored CDL Training, you can get an idea of what's out there. Make a few phone calls and see what's close by to you.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

How far NE? Prime has training out of Pittston, PA.

Marc, the location of the school doesn't matter because they're going to give you a place to stay while you attend. All that matters is that the company hires from your area. If they do then you're good to go.
