Lol, i suppose it's all part of driving. After a nice relaxing weekend with my kids, i found myself with a relay load going too Ajax Ontario. The confidence is back, leaving the errors in the dust. Delivered without a hitch. Now off to dreaded New Jersey lol You guys (and gals ;) ) rock! Thanks for everything!

I wuz in Alabama and following my GPS and some how ended up on a one lane dirt road in the middle of nowhere and my Qualcomm GPS wuz saying I reached my final destination on the right I look out to the right and realized I'm on a wooded hill with no buildings in sight lol come to find out I'm 50 miles away from my final stop thinking how am I going to get out of here there wuz noway a truck of this size should be on this dirt road but I got out with no hits and tips and made it to my stop on time...... Just gotta stop take a deep breath and roll with it..... (Sorry my writing skills suck)

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

Lol!

Andy, your story sounds like my last trip to chicago!

Also, I missed my turn finding this place I am sitting at this morning. No signage showing the truck entrance... Looked like a small parking lot with four wheelers.

Anyway, I get to the end of the road, theres a "no trucks" sign! can only turn left... Oh wait, "no truck s" going that way, either!

company has a no u turn policy, but what was I gonna do?

That was THIS MORNING, a few hours ago!

File under "experienced driver, another day" my friend.

Sounds like you're a natural!

One of my instructors at CDL school, even after years of experience, said he missed a turn going South on I-95 into Philly. He said he couldn't find an exit to turn around until he got to Maryland.

Lol button, I'm finding the truth to be much more interesting than my initial research showed me, it's quite the adventure being a trucker. Still wouldn't trade it for the world! Experienced drivers such as you, instructors like mountain girls, rookie like me. It's worth it to sit here in New Jersey watching the wind blow the leaves on the wonderfully colored trees while the sun is shining...off to Ontario...then? Who knows. I love that i chose to do this. I enjoy the stories you all share, i enjoy my own foolish ones. thank-you.gif

What do you mean no u turn policy?

No u turn means it takes a ton of room to u turn s 70 foot truck, risk of damage is too high. Most companies do not allow you to do them,.

What do you mean no u turn policy?

Some companies forbid you to do a U-turn on a roadway. In other words, if you're driving along and you realize you have to turn around you can't just do a U-turn in the road and head in the other direction. You have to pull into a parking lot and pull back onto the roadway or work your way around the block somehow. But trying to do a U-turn causes a lot of grief, especially for new drivers. Not only can it be super dangerous but it's rather tricky trying to judge whether or not you have enough room to make it. Once you get started and realize you don't have the space you're really in a mess. A lot of people wind up in the ditch or taking out fences and all kinds of stuff.
