I used to say it's like big rigs have a sign on the front bumper in small letters that says, "Pull out now!" which people can't read until you get close enough for them to see the small letters. I swear to God about once a week someone will pull out in front of you like they're trying to commit suicide.
I drive a truck governed at 62mph and every day I still end up passing a few four wheelers. Even when the posted speed limit is 70 or more. For what ever reason some people just drive slow, not paying attention, or just scared maybe. My point is if we are required to stay in separate lanes there is always going to be someone slowing the whole lane.
I've been paced by 4 wheelers also like they don't realize they are doing it till someone get on their tail then they speed up after they wake up from a daze. I have also attempted to pass a 4 wheeler going 5 mph slower than me just to have them speed up and block me in the left lane.
New laws won't fix it, it will make it worse. I would like to be able to temporary disable the governor for passing and getting past merging traffic when you can't get left.

People have what I like to refer to as a "natural speed" they like to travel. When you factor in where they're going, their state of mind, how fast their brain processes information, the vehicle they're driving, the traffic, the weather, and about a million other factors you'll find that we all settle into a comfortable or "natural" speed for the given time and circumstances.
But there is one overriding factor in almost everyone's equation - people hate being behind tractor trailers. Hate it. So they'll be cruising along at their natural speed when suddenly they notice a tractor trailer has caught up with them and is going to pass. Well we can't have that! So the person speeds up, gets some distance ahead of the truck, and then relaxes back into their natural speed. Soon enough you've caught up to them again, they notice this, they speed up again, and then settle back in. People will do this over and over again and it can drive you insane. They don't want to go as fast as you're going but they don't want to be behind you either.
When this hapens to me, usually a faster truck will come along and then they end up agitating that truck on down the road. Happened to me yesterday, as a matter of fact.
Drivers tend to want others to be courteous, but when it's their turn, they'll block you off as long as they can.

I hate it when they do that! Some people simply don't think they should be behind anyone. I see them do it when I am in my personal vehicle. I'll ride behind em for a while then move out to pass and they go just fast enough to not let me around.
Funny thing is some people are just the opposite. Driving nights I can't tell you how many times I've been on a 3 lane highway and someone will get right up on my bumper and stay there even though no one else is around. You think they are just waiting for the next exit but nope, they stay right there.
Its really funny when they follow you right into the weigh stations

People love to do that in really bad weather too - especially snowstorms when visibility is terrible. I'd look behind me and see cars nose to tail on my bumper and I'd think, "Boy, if people don't like truckers now they really won't like us if I accidentally drive off a cliff and we all end up in a pile at the bottom of a ravine!"
Coming of new jersey yesterday, forgive my... Fumbling ha. There are truck routes (stay right) and car routes (left) Needless to say, the truck route is packed with semis moving along, and for some ungodly reason the four wheelers are zipping in and out between us... Just as the flow begins to move, a car cuts off a truck causing a chain reaction slowing us all down... Be awesome if there were truck only routes two lanes, NO CARS ALLOWED! If i were a multi multi billionaire, I'd build two lanes off to the side of every highway for trucks only lol. A passing lane and a straight. Perfect world. Well, except for the guys who feel the need to hang in the left lane because they are special and pretty much own the road. The hell with other truckers. Sigh... It's a no win situation. Everyone wants to make a living, moving makes money, but how hard is it to have a little constraint when it comes to driving? Cars, i will destroy you if you misjudged your cutting me off, trucks, I've only been driving solo for a couple weeks, but already have seen a firey wreck (god rest his soul), a truck in the ditch on the right, a truck stuck on a median on the left, and a Jacknifed trailer straight across a three lane highway... The big picture. It's dangerous and instead of making more laws, how about more education... Just a thought...

Get used to it lol. Its crazy how people drive around us! Possibly even worse for the student driver trucks, I think they see those signs and think "law suit".
One thing about trucking is now you set up high enough to really see how everyone drives. It is insane the chances people take and for what? To gain one spot in a line that's not going anywhere anyway?
Nuts.
