BTW...I'm from jersey where we don't pump our own....wanna good laugh just look for jersey plates while on the road. See how long they sit at the pump waiting for an attendant
Thanks, I'm gonna do that next time. That might explain the long, slow moving lines at the pump.
Oregon is the same way.
When I saw the subject line on this post, my answer was going to be TUMS!
Wow..,..this thread is from over 2 years ago. Great to see you scouring the Archives Pete!
LOL, I was.thinking the same thing....
What do you have in OR and NJ. "The International Brotherhood of Fuel Pumpers Unions". That is about the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard of. And I've heard lots of stupid things. Also, said and done my share of STUPID as well. I am very well versed in stupid from both sides of the fence!

In NJ it's a law. I don't remember why. But it is fun and annoying at the same time.
Well....way back when, in a time before I was born, you could roll into a gas station and get your windows washed, oil checked, and they would even fill your tires with air. Other states became "self service" but NJ did not want to fire the attendants and cost people jobs. The excuse was "gas is flammable and you need professionals to pump it.". About the time i got into high school the other serviced were no longer offered, just the pumping.
Even today the gas in NJ while paying an attendant is LESS than what the surrounding states charge. We were 25 cents per gallon cheaper than philly at one point...and they pump their own. And some northeast states benefit like PA and CT by having a " full service " and "self service" lane. They charge note per gallon in the full service lines and NJ are willing to pay cause we are snobby and think touching gas pumps is beneath us. Lol
In the end...it comes down to patriotism. All you " pumpers" are anti Americans and put people out of jobs!!!!
