Would someone please explain to me the pro's and con's of these two climate control systems? I'm having difficulty researching it...

APU typically a generator that is self powered by a small diesel engine. Unlimited power as long as there is fuel. EPU electronic type with storage batteries that are charged by the tractors electrical system. Limited power unless recharged by the tractor electrical system.

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.

Thanks, Guy...

For how long of a period should I expect the EPU to keep me either Warm or cool? I feel one may be in my future and I am hearing horror stories that the things barely work....
