I have an entire book full of em! :-)
I have an awesome story about my first time into New York City as a rookie. It's in my book, which has a version that's completely free online, so you can read it straight from there. It's far too long for the forum.
Here's where the New York City story begins:
I have other stories scattered throughout that book, but the NYC story is everyone's favorite.
Awesome story, wow. Ive seen some videos on YouTube of truckers driving thru NYC, holy shit, insane. You conquered NYC even thru all that. Nice.
Yeah, that's one of those stories that's a lot of fun to tell but wasn't any fun at the time I'll tell ya!
Awesome story! Do alot of otr trucks still run through NYC?
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Its one of those moments that could have broke you, hell you were on a free way lol, thats gotta be a tough and nerve racking experience. We marines say adapt and overcome and you did that. You cant lie, it had to be a rush to go off road a little bit lol

Many companies today hand off most or all of their NYC-bound freight to companies in New Jersey or their own team of dedicated NYC drivers and let them take the load the final few miles into NYC. That's why you'll see companies advertise "no NYC" or "No forced dispatch to NYC" meaning they have some way of letting someone else take it into the city for you. This is definitely a feature worth adding to your list of considerations when choosing a company to work for. No NYC is a very nice.

I'd love to say that it was, but under the circumstances I just wanted to get out of their with my truck and career still "on their wheels" I guess you could say. We had already had too many close calls and too much attention. I was rather confident we'd be able to pull it off, but I wasn't exactly thinking "Oh great, another ridiculous chapter to this story - offroading!"
But the rush came the moment I left the grass and bounced down off the curb and onto the pavement of the road we were heading to. Knowing we were finally on a sure route to safety out of the city and looking behind us knowing they were about to unleash all that traffic behind us - now that was a huge rush!!! That was super exciting - beyond description.

Operating While Intoxicated
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
