More on my updates guys. I'm out with mentor today for my six weeks training. Should have been yesterday but our truck needed an oil change and they didn't get to it until today. I like my mentor he really seems a nice guy and is easy going. I needed that after my training school bark allot trainers. I'm still liking Swift, in spite of the bad rap they get......they seem to be an ok company to work for and are friendly and helpful in which ever area I've asked for help. I'm in a hotel as I write this, no truck, hotel it is then. I will keep posting and tell all of my travels ;-) As the Swift company would say....."BE SAFE By Choice....NOT BY Chance....Take care guys.
Take care of yourself as well, Mick..keep on keeping those great posts coming..I'm still not signed on the dotted line yet..it may well be Swift, after all..
DOT:
Department Of Transportation
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
HOS:
Hours Of Service
HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
Sounds great! Yeah, you should like Swift. They've been helping new drivers get their start in the industry for as long as I can remember. They're as good as any company in the nation when it comes to that. If you'll handle yourself like a true professional and treat everyone with kindness and respect I know you'll get that back from the overwhelming majority of people you'll come across there.
