TA Offering Free Meal For Veterans

TravelCenters of America announced this week that TA and Petro will be offering a free meal to truck drivers who are military veterans on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2014.

Truck drivers who are military veterans will be treated to a free meal, up to $15, on Veteran’s Day at Iron Skillet, Country Pride and other full-service restaurants at any participating TA and Petro truck stop.

“Once again, we are taking this opportunity to thank the many truck drivers who are also military veterans for their service and sacrifice, both in our armed forces, and each day on the road,” said TA’s president and CEO, Tom O’Brien,

This offer is available to all veterans who have a current CDL , and you must show proof of service prior to ordering you meal.  Proof of service includes: U.S. Uniform Services Retired ID Card, Veterans Organization Card, Photograph in uniform, DD214, or Citation or Commendation.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

You are quite welcome. So glad today that my wife talked me out of getting out after almost 14 years. But that was back in the 80's.

That shows you how clueless management types are. Hey, let's honor our military veterans for their honorable service and sacrifices by giving them a free meal of $15 or less. Because we love our military, but not enough to give them a $17 meal. Up to $15 maybe, that's enough.

Idiots!

Thank God the members of our military didn't put a limit on how much they were willing to do for us. Like, we'll protect our nation up to and including the Taliban but not from armies organized by official governments and only if the temperature is between 50-80 degrees at the time services are required.

Good grief.

I couldn't agree more Brett, we all served without hestitation or reservation to do what was asked of us. But the flip side is some companies are doing something. Many more are not. Sign of the times I guess.

TA-Petro will be extending this same offer again this Veteran's Day on Wednesday, November 11.
