I would suggest if you are going to use a crock pot look for crock pot liners to use. They are located with cooking bags and other things like zip lock bags in most grocery stores. They make clean up do easy which is necessary when running water to do dishes may be in short supply!

Absolutely. I do 2 gallons of soup for my wife's office each week. She uses two crockpots at the office to heat the soup and the liners are a real time saver. Small turkey roasting bags will work, too.

Thank you so much for your response means a lot, i agree it depends on you, I can live off very little food just to save money, but then again I may feel like eating a lot, oh geez I wouldn't eat too much at truck stops seems it could be costly, yes coffee maker is a must for me I live off coffee (haha) I will look into the crock pot I love to cook, i think that's not to bad 100 dollars week, where are you headed this week? Hope everyone has a nice relaxing weekend!

I went from my home (Clarksville, TN) to Nashville to pick up a load and delivered it in Dallas. I then picked up a load in Dallas and took it to Nashville. I dropped that trailer at the yard and hooked to another and took it to get loaded right up the road then drove to Chicago where it was unloaded, turned around and took the empty back to Nashville where I hooked back to the trailer I dropped earlier and now I am back home. I will be heading to Detroit Monday morning with this load. I love these production runs.

Not any more. I was when I ran regional most of the time. I was only kept out one weekend in a year. What I am doing now keeps me out on weekends more often because that is when most one time concerts and shows are held. It`s a whole different animal where cpm and driving miles are only a factor in the pay and not the main basis.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

I try to hit a walmart once a week. I will eat out once or twice a week though. I have a truck fridge installed, and for cooking I have a George Forman grill, sandwich maker, microwave, crock pot, and a coffee maker. The George Forman and sandwich maker are very easy to clean.

I have several cans of soup, and two cases of MRE's and two cases of water that I keep under the bunk just incase I get stranded somewhere for any reason. But with just my normal groceries I keep on the truck I would be good for a week probably. Before needing to start on my emergency supplies.

I'm know that's overkill bit that's how I roll!

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Thank you Chris for getting back to my post means a lot. Is it hard to install a fridge? I'm thinking to make tomato sandwiches too a lot since it's cheap plus healthy.

The fridge was made for trucks, looks very simple to install, but I had it installed at the Prime terminal , I also had them install my tv mount and CB. I could have done it myself but it's a company truck so I felt better letting them do it. They had to drill holes in the cabinet to mount TV mount.

This truck is my home, gotta love the OTR lifestyle!

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

I had (by had, I mean it died yesterday) an electric cooler but I am gonna upgrade to a fridge. In my case I have an inverter installed so as long as I can find a fridge that doesn`t pass the watt limit, I can install it myself.

I LOVE tomato samiches! A fresh tomato and some Hellman mayonnaise... Oh yeah. Kind of hard to find good fresh tomatoes this time of year though.
