52? Not a problem!
Sandra, I just got my CDL & finished school on 11/3, and celebrated my 57th birthday six days later. I am currently applying for jobs, and no joke, I am being blitzed with recruiters calling me. If you have a clean driving record, and pass the medical requirements, you'll be in big demand.
Go for it!

I'm with Deb R.! I went to Roehl's CDL school and spent my 53rd birthday with them on Oct. 24th. I did come through their Phase 1 program and tomorrow is hire day....I made it even when some doubted I would!!!!! Go for it!!!! You will never know unless you try and will kick yourself if you get to the end of your life and say. "what if?". Life is short so get on that horse and ride it until it bucks you off!!!!! Good luck!!!!

I was inspired to go into trucking by a 70 year old female trucker. =)
Nahhh you are never too old to do this. I got my CDL back after a 20 yr hiatus pushing pencils around. I'm 58 now and driving a 10.5 yard KW Readymixer for Knife River Corp. All you need is some PPE and cojones! ^-^ Go for it!

Over age 50 here, as well. Our age bracket has wisdom on our side for the most part. I think a lot of employers are "Boomers" and they see value in themselves and others with experience in other customer service oriented careers as being a huge plus to them in many ways. I've had no discouraging words from any staff or trainers at the truck school I am attending in Columbus, Ohio. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide. If you do go for it, please, let us know. We all need friendly peers and we like the fellowship here on Trucking Truth.
