I want to start off by thanking everybody here. I've been trolling the forums for a few years now trying to decide if this was right for me. I had to wait a bit for a bad accident to be off my record.
Its kind of bittersweet leaving my old life behind to start a new one. My mother has gone off the deep end with all her worries. She's especially upset that I wont be home for Christmas. I've told her I'm going out there in the winter so I can learn how to drive in snow with a trainer so I'm not trying to figure it out myself. Any advice on how to comfort a crazy mother would be appreciated.
If anybody could provide advice on things to bring besides the obvious would also be appreciated.
You can have her check out this site and just assure her you are going to do everything you can to be safe out there and this site has a app kinda lol its a trucker tracker she can keep a eye on you lol
Nice! I'll be there with you, same date here! My mother is the same way, but she's supportive, so it helps. Just gotta reinforce that it's something you want to do and will be happy getting into! I also agree, this forum helps, a lot! I'll see you there!
Bring long johns, good thick socks, things of the thermal variety. I'm still unthawing from the time I spent on the pad this morning, but it's my understanding that the past few days have been abnormally cold for Missouri, so maybe it will actually be warmer when you get here.
Bring your permit or the knowledge in your brain ready to pass the test. Use the High Road program here, it's great.
Bring your official, raised seal birth certificate. You guys probably already knew that, but people have been going home because they bring copies. If you don't have it, you can order it for like 20 bucks.
Don't come out to the training pad wearing house slippers with no socks when the wind chill is 9 degrees and then ask to take the shuttle back so you can get your boots like this guy did today.

I swear there's a guy like that at every orientation you go to.
