Brett is right. You will not get a ticket though its your responsibility to make sure the low air warning work correctly and the brake valves pop out at the right air pressure.
I think the last time I did a brake bleed down was in CDL school...oh wait...we got inspected, at Dunsmir CA and I hadta do it then....
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Speaking of brakes...as I was pulling out of a truck stop, I noticed the faint hissing sound, of what turned out to be a slooooow air leak. The noise was continuing when I pulled into a rest area. To make a long story short, one of the brake chambers on the trailer was failing. I was able to get it to a truck stop with a maintenance facility and it is getting fixed right now.

I was at a scale house awhile back. As Brett said, they told me EXACTLY how they wanted the brakes tested. They didn't question my ability to do the bleed down buzzer and pop out valve tests. I sort of remembered from my school, but way to nervous to recall the order of events at a scale house!

How do you log a pretty trip inspection on your log book if you did not or could not make sure the brake system is functioning correctly?
True you do not have to do the test in the scale house but the reason they ask you do it it is to test your knowledge. If you can not do a simple brake test then it stands a very good chance you did not check out the brakes during PTI. That will cause them to look deeper at your log
