I saw an add for team drivers that stated you could make 150,000 to 156,000 a year. Is that per driver or is that amount split between the drivers?
Neither, unfortunately. That's one of those "up to" dollar amounts that never comes close to being realized. Just like my Internet service provides "up to" a certain data rate but in reality I rarely see 5% of that rate.
Team driving pays slightly more (at best) than solo driving. You're going to get double the miles and slightly more than half the rate. It works out pretty close to the same as running solo, maybe slightly better. If you could make significantly more money running team there would be a ton of people looking to do it. But that's simply not the case. Very few people feel it's worth the headache for the little bit more you can make.
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
To piggyback off of Brett, where team driving pays off is when it is a husband and wife team. While not making significantly more money individually, all the money earned goes to the same household.
