Soo tired I am forgetting words in my sentences. No edit options on these forums?

You guys get what I'm getting tripped up about. Thanks, I guess I just needed to whine and get reassurance.

Did you check out the Millennium building yet, Joshua? One of the drivers I've been talking to on FB took me there. Prime loves their employees.

No, we have the "preview" button instead. Type your comment, hit "preview" to proofread it, then submit it. I go through and make a lot of edits for misspellings and to add links to other content and such.

I agree that you should have little to worry about. I think your record as a minor should be sealed. I don't know why your ticket isn't showing up on your driving record but if it isn't there it isn't there.

And listen....even if you get sent home from Prime it's not a big deal. If you can get on with Prime you can get on with most companies. You can start calling the other Company-Sponsored Training Programs and you'll be on a bus to another company in the blink of an eye. You'll see there will likely be people in your class that tried going through other programs and didn't make it for whatever reason. Most of those classes have people that tried going through other programs first.

One way or another you'll be driving a rig before you know it. It will most likely be with Prime, but if not it will certainly be with another company. No biggie.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Company-sponsored Training:

A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.

The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.

If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.

Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated

Yeah I'm there all the time. Sometimes Roll Call is there. Been waiting for a trainer for over a week now. I'm a non-smoker and not a good looking female, they get picked up first. I guess I don't blame them. I'd rather be holed up with a female for a couple months then a Male too. But at the same time, I'm ready to go! Got Pre-trip down pact at least. Hard to get on a truck at the training pad when there is 20 something people there and one truck. I do get a little bit of shifting in most days though.

Looks like you have your backround covered. Now, just keep focused on being on time to class, and realize that first 4 days is an interview. It's good that you have started to study pre trip. Keep studying you will probably not have time to go over it on the road, also your trainer will have " his way" of doing pre trip so be flexible. Your first day there is very busy so show up on time, be prepared, and act like you want to be there and you'll be fine.

Depends on the state laws. California protects adult citizens from criminal history dating back 7 years or convictions as a minor. Some states do this, some don't. Ss in your case I would go with the "don't ask don't tell" approach regarding your history as a minor.
