Hello, My name is Pepper, I am really excited to be starting this part of my life. I come from a family that has a lot of truckers in it, but I did not want to learn from them because I did not want to pick up bad habits and shortcuts, I wanted to learn by the book. I love my family, but even my uncle told me not to look at him as a role model because he shortcuts everything that he can. He said to come see him after I have had a CDL under me for a year. I chose Swift after doing some research. I will be driving regional to start, and then I will assess things later on. I have read countless forums, watched videos, looking for all of the information that I could gather in order to make an informed decision. My recruiter has been really nice, she has been attentive and has answered all of the questions that I have asked of her. I am now in the hotel, what an event to get here. I chose to bring my own vehicle because the thought of sitting on the bus didn't seem like a fun one to me. I have not been told to get any permits or pre-testing done, so I cannot comment on that. I asked, and I was told that everything would be handled in Dallas. I am leaving it up to my recruiter, my teachers and G-d to look over me and keep me safe.

I am not going to walk into the room tomorrow as anything except a blank slate student who is ready and willing to learn. I think that will help. I brought my own food to get me through this time learning. I looked at the finances of eating out versus eating in, and I really did not see how I could afford to eat out. So, off to Costco to stock up for the approximately 84 meals that I will be consuming out of hotel rooms. Tonight, I had a can of healthy choice vegetable soup. Sent off some emails to friends and family reminding them that I am going to be busy for the next month or so and let them all know that I love them very much. Chatted with a pal, and now I am here, telling you what is going on.

The hotel is an extended stay. The kids in the other rooms have been running up and down the halls squealing and screaming, but I have reminded myself that this is the last day of a holiday weekend and they will probably be gone tomorrow. If not, I will call the front desk and get it handled.

The room itself is a plain room. No excessive frills. That is fine. 2 beds, a small flat screen tv, a refrigerator, microwave and 2 burner stove top. A small dining room table and two chairs. I brought in all my gear, took half of the room for myself and just relaxed. The WIFI works fine. I doubt if I will be using it a lot, but it is there if I need it. The bathroom is small, clean and adequate. Towels for myself and whoever my roommate ends up being. The clerk at the front desk said that they have some very late arrivals, so don't be surprised if my roomie shows up after 1 AM. I wrote them a little note and put it on their bed in case I am asleep when they get here, or if they get here. Apparently, some people don't end up showing up after all. The hot water is amazing. Extremely hot. I love that. I took a great shower, put my clothes in the dirty laundry sack I brought and I am now ready for the day to get here so that I can do well, hopefully graduate and make my family proud of me. I will try and update this as often as I can. Wish me loads and loads of luck and please pray for my safety and success! Pepper

You'll be staying at a fairly new La Quinta when you get to Corsicana and they have 3 weeks worth of classes staying there. There is a full sized school bus there in the morning to pick you up and take you to the facility which is about 10 minutes away. Good luck to you
