Congrats Dave. Hope it works out for ya!
Hey congrats Dave! Let me ask you - how did you find out about that job? One of the biggest requests we get is for help trying to find a local job straight out of school. Those are very difficult to come by. So we'd love to know how you found it.
Wow! Congratulations Dave!
You are extremely fortunate to land a local driving job with only a permit. Hang in there - you may find it frustrating at times, but try to stick with it for at least six months and preferably one year. Remember, if you decide one day to go over the road , most companies will not consider that local driving as experience. It's kind of crazy because local jobs include some of the toughest driving situations but that's how it works.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Honestly im not sure. i called the owner of the company told him my story and i guess i found a perfect storm because he said they usually wouldnt do anything like this till spring but they have a trainer and a good local route available so we will give it a shot. the biggest thing is i was upfront about my situation what i wanted to do and how i wanted to do it. Also i reserched the company and knew what to say and not to say. Bottom line i was prepared to either get a job or be led down the right path to get a job
