Not sure where to post this, but I was just on the air brake exam on the training course and I answered correctly and it said it was incorrect, then showed me the quote from the manual and I answered correctly... Have a screen shot...
Can you replicate this issue and get a screen shot for Brett??
Just press Print screen, open paint and press ctrl + v to paste it in paint, save, upload to phot bucket and past the link here or email to brett..
He'll get it fixed
Or provide the question/ answer
Thomas, I strongly recommend that you read that question very carefully. I've got a strong feeling you are misunderstanding the question.

Agreed, someone had a similar issue a while back and it turned out he was misreading the question. It's actually quite helpful that the High Road has tricky questions like that; I ran into several on the permit exam that were intentionally misleading. They are testing to see if you have complete understanding rather than rote memorization.
Ok, I believe you're misinterpreting the corrections. The question says:
What is "Gross Vehicle Weight" (GVW)?
The correct answer is:
"Total weight of a single vehicle plus its load"
You selected:
"Total weight of a power unit plus trailer(s) plus the cargo"
Word to the wise... if you think you've found a mistake in the High Road questions, reread it, several times ... or take a break and reread it later. Its almost certain that its no mistake. I've gone thru the entire program ... and there were a few instances (always when I had been at it for too long) when I was certain that my wrong answer was correct ... but eventually I realized that I wasn't reading the question carefully. I never found an actual mistake in that program.
While using the Pre-Trip quiz:
On a tractor-trailer combination vehicle , when will the tractor protection valve close (pop out)? About 45 psi About 60 psi About 100 psi About 20 psi
From the self-check answer: Quote From Page 118 Of The Illinois CDL Manual: At about 40 psi on a tractor-trailer combination vehicle, the tractor protection valve and parking brake valve should close (pop out).
For the HR quiz the answer that will "pass" is 45 I'm not nit-picking, but this could really confuse some folks. We tend to"learn" the right answer and so, according to the hint the answer for the question would be "none of the above".
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A vehicle with two separate parts - the power unit (tractor) and the trailer. Tractor-trailers are considered combination vehicles.

keep in mind, every state's CDL material is slightly different. It would be a miracle for all the states to say the same thing..
my advice is keep a mental note when you goto take the IL test and if asked this question select 40.

I agree, BUT the answer does not match the "review" from the manual the HR material is from -- should be none of the above or change the "answer" element to "40". I say this because "45" will score correctly.... Just sayin'!
I love the HR training - I've passed all my test first shot. BUT, a misleading answer is just wrong...

I did find the "45" answer, but not in the quize notes:
Pre-trip Inspection: Cab check/Engine Start section: Following is the proper procedure for inspecting the air brake system:
With the engine running, build the air pressure to governed cut-out (100-125 psi). Shut off the engine, turn the electrical power on, chock your wheels, if necessary, release the tractor protection valve and parking brake (push in), fully apply the foot brake and hold it for one minute. Check the air gauge to see if the air pressure drops more than 3 pounds in 1 minute (single vehicle) or 4 pounds in 1 minute (combination vehicle) with brake applied. When brake is unapplied, air pressure drops more than 2 pounds in 1 minute with a single vehicle and 3 pounds in 1 minute in a combination vehicle. Begin fanning off the air pressure by rapidly applying and releasing the foot brake. Low-air warning devices (buzzer, light, flag) should activate before air pressure drops below 60 psi. Continue to fan off the air pressure. At about 45 psi on a tractor-trailer combination vehicle , the tractor protection valve and parking brake valve should close (pop out). On other combination vehicle types and single vehicle types, the parking brake valve should close (pop out).
So, the answer is correct but not in context with the quote from the manual in quiz note...
Like I indicated before, I am so appreciative to Brett for providing this study tool. If you use it and focus on learning rather than looking for errors you WILL pass your tests!!! I'm an IT geek by profession and looking for "bugs" is just something I do. I was also a journalism major in a past life and proof reading and process verification were a part of my reading/studying routine.
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.
