LOL.....Thank you Jopa!! :) I figured he was likely on the road but I'm new to this site as of a couple of hours ago so wasn't sure if I was missing something. I will call at our next stop. I tried to get through on Dispatch but he said he didn't know what to tell me cause the regular is out of the office until Monday. It's a real safety issue. The first two times it happened I let it go figuring he was probably dealing with some personal stuff but this week he almost hit the guard rail and swerved off on three different occasions already. I'm hardly able to get enough sleep with the game being on while I'm trying to sleep.

Uh, what is TMI? And you'll find this site to be very responsive to your questions . . . it's a real asset for newbies (I are one! - sortof) With that in mind check out the teaching aid I posted . . . ;)

You won't be able to get through to anyone with authority right now. It's the night shift and weekend crew.

Our best bet would be Monday,

Hi Hope....I went through my PSD training with Daniel and like he say's he can help you out with this issue. It's important to get this Trainer removed from the PSD program. He is setting the WRONG example, his actions are careless not too mention risking your life and everybody else's on the highway when he nods off...You deserve a Responsible Trainer and Prime will get you one.

PSD:

Prime Student Driver

Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.

The following is from Prime's website:

Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.

Obtain CDL Permit / 4 Days

  • Enter program, study and test for Missouri CDL permit.
  • Start driving/training at Prime Training Center in Springfield, Missouri.
  • Work toward 40,000 training dispatched miles (minimum) with food allowance while without CDL (Food allowance is paid back with future earnings).

On-the-Road Instruction / 10,000 Miles

  • Train with experienced certified CDL instructor for 3-4 weeks in a real world environment.
  • Get 75 hours of behind-the-wheel time with one-on-one student/instructor ratio.
  • Earn 10,000 miles toward total 40,000 miles needed.

Please tell me he's nodding off when he's in the jump seat and not driving. If he's nodding off while driving by all means scream " wake the f--- up a'hole!!!!" This is your life on the line, don't mince words. Take a video of this. Prime isn't going to let you go and it sounds like this dude needs to be sent packing. I feel your pain, I'm also the type of person that doesn't like to speak up until it's too late sometimes. Realize he's there to TRAIN you, not ride around gaming and getting paid millage. I've heard stories of trainers like this and it really burns me up. I would also document times and instances as much as you can remember. Good luck!!

It sounds like he's driving a lot, why is he doing that? The girl's permit is about to expire too, I'm guessing she might have been waiting a while in Springfield for an instructor? At any rate, what the guy is doing is wrong. She should be doing the vast majority of the driving with him alert and attentive in the passenger seat. I just finished my 75 hours in this stage at Prime and the ONLY time my instructor drove was for a short time first thing in the day to get into our 01 or 90 so I could start a fresh clock once we were loaded or headed to a fresh 01.
