A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

I got the permit and some endorsements prior to school. Even did the physical on my own $. But the physical got repeated anyway (it's part of what you pay for) and I was ahead of the class on this.
I am glad I did because I studied my a$$ off for the hazmat endorsement while everyone else was sweating the Gen Knowledge. Come permit day, I got my hazmat endorsement and I'm more marketable.
