From my understanding most companies want at least a year of otr or at the very least 6 months. Just keep chipping chief. I know it's a bummer but the more leads you put out there the better off you are. When you talk to the recruiters ask regional positions. I know Werner had those classic Dollar General accounts. But be warned I've heard time and time again that this loads are a giant task. You might have to compromise.
I first applied at the companies that used "intelliapp" because most of the info was already there. Then made a word document with the stuff that dropped off. I was doing an average of 6 apps a hour. Then I went back and did the companies that used different application methods.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
I Recently graduated from school and got my class a cdl. I had a prehire with swift but 2 hours before I left they called me and told me that because of a medication I was on I could not be hired. I got my dot card and all. The company chose not to hire me because the medication was to help me continue with a problem I had because of surgery I had.
I am frustrated because my prehire was taken away and even more frustrated that I am having a time finding a job that isn't otr. And I may have to for a little while.
I'd say to just keep looking and apply for those jobs even if they have that experience is a requirement on their listing, the worst they can do is say no, but you might just get lucky and find one that will hire you anyways. Sucks that you lost that prehire and I'll have to hope that the same thing doesn't happen to me, as I'm starting at Swift's academy on the 29th!
