Lol. If they look at your credit score then there wouldn't be very many truckers!
I wouldn't worry about it. I have a pretty bad credit score and am on my way to Prime training right now. My credit is bad because of massive student loans. There was even a private school that accepted me and guaranteed I wouldn't have a problem getting the loan for their program. They don't provide housing though, so it wasn't a viable option for me. Prime did run a hard credit check on me however, so I guess it's possible to be turned down under certain circumstances; if not, I can't imagine why they would devote the resources to running it at all.

Said perfectly. Your credit score is meaningless
Welcome aboard Kent!
Indeed you have nothing to worry about. Your credit score will have little or no bearing on getting your trucking career underway.
Before I even call to speak with a recruiter, I'd like to know if my credit score will keep me from qualifying. I'd be considered an excellent candidate if it weren't for my credit score. Is there anyone who can speak on this subject, please?
If you're considering a school that is gonna finance you consider a credit union for the loan. In some cases the school will give you a discount for paying cash up front. You get a better interest rate at the credit union AND the discount for paying in full. Plus local credit unions will often by more understanding. Most companies are gonna do tuition reimbursement, but it they don't usually pay back in six months or a year. If you're considering company-sponsored training it shouldn't matter.
A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.
The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.
If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.
Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.

Thanks Brett. That's good to know. It's been keeping me from calling any of them. One more question; Do I respond to a reply to my question by the Quote button?
