Logan, based on your responses, you're either just a kid w/o your own children or any experience that comes with living, or pretty damn selfish and short-sighted.

Here's the thing tell a driver whose door your knockin on if it's a human trafficking thing. Most of them would be willing to help. It's called common sense if you want to get out of that lifestyle it's not hard. Tell someone.

Yeah... because criminals like to make it easy for their victims to walk away (rolls eyes).

Video just a short scroll down that page. I would encourage you to watch it.

To some people I guess yes I would be considered a kid. I'm only 26. Selfish yes that's true too and your right I don't have any kids but short sighted no. I just have no respect for hookers. There's a way out if they really want it easy as that.

O and your also right about the experience thing that comes with living but I'm working on it. One of the reasons I got into truck driving. So you nearly had me all figured out 6 string.

To Snappy & 6-String - thank you for saying what needs to be heard. Nobody knows what situation a person may be in. The video that Snappy referred to was shown to us in school, and made me aware of human trafficking. The whole "lot lizard" thing is not a big joke, some people are really trapped.

The best thing to do is not to judge, we all fall down sometimes. Instead, give them a Bible and talk with them.

Thanks for the kind words, Deb! I came to this career from a public safety background. It's all too easy for those of us who have, comparatively speaking, won the socioeconomic lottery by being born in the right circumstances to look at disadvantaged persons and not see all the factors that trap a person in a bad situation, without the skills or resources available to get out on their own.

Personally, I like the model used by Amsterdam for dealing with prostitution. I may have gotten the country wrong there, but anyway -- paying for sex there is a crime. Human trafficking there is a crime. The prostitutes themselves are not charged with or guilty of a crime. They are recognized as victims of violence against women, and provided with the assistance they need to get out of a bad situation. It's a way of doing things that reflects and addresses the real problem in that world as it exists today, and has been proven effective at reducing prostitution activity in that country.

Wow....certainly did not mean to start all this. Listen, all joking is at someones expense. For instance if some one tells a "fat" joke or a "hung like a field mouse" joke, that would be at my expense. For another example, if i were to say "sounds like someones daughter is a hooker" well then, that would be at your expense. Does that make me a bad person? Probably. All joking aside heres the bottom line. If that girl came to my truck and said "i am being forced into this and i want out" i would be the first person to put her in my truck, violate my HOS , violate company policy, give her all the cash i had and drop her anywhere she wanted. Gotta go....my favorite hooker is here, my wife.

Wow Ricky... Just wow. You didn't really make yourself look any better by calling your wife your favorite hooker.

I don't post often but here's my 2ยข.

Prostitution is not a pretty thing. Remember that most are hooked on heroin and the only way for them to keep from the withdrawal symptoms is to turn tricks so their pimp will give them more. The thought of getting out and away to them means more pain or disfigurement, or even death in a few cases.

Even a single person rescued from such a life is a huge worthwhile accomplishment, someone's life is made better.

As for the trafficking, that completely and utterly disgusts me, and I am at a loss on how ANYONE can run such an operation. The depravity of some people baffles me completely and utterly.

Baffle:

A partition or separator within a liquid tank, used to inhibit the flow of fluids within the tank. During acceleration, turning, and braking, a large liquid-filled tank may produce unexpected forces on the vehicle due to the inertia of liquids.

I am sorry Olga. Did i give the impression that i was tryin to make myself look better? I use this forum as a tool to learn from the vast number of experienced drivers on here an to share my experiences thus far to help those coming into this field. Every now and then i like to joke around and go off topic with amusing tid bits of useless conversation to break up the mood. If i offended anyone, i appologize.
