Any Advice Would Help

I'm looking at leaving my recent job at a big tractor company as an assembler and already signed up to start school at a local college and take night classes to get my CDL. The reason i'm doing this is because i'm in the union and being in this union I bust my butt but don't get paid as good as the lazy ones. I really want to work a job that I get paid for the work I do and what I put into it. I know I have yet to start school but I like to stay ahead of the power curve and research companies now. What questions should be asked to these recruiters? The being away from family I understand being a 14 year vet with 5 deployments under me so my family is also used to it the travel. I have came to like 3 companies I have researched which are Schnider, TMC, and Werner. I would really like to have my choice decided before school so I can start my application while there. CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
